The cult of María Lionza, one of the most important religious practices in Venezuela, is beginning to manifest itself in Barcelona. Through the testimonies of believers, artists, and esoteric art sellers, this documentary depicts for the first time the appearance of this religion in the Catalan capital.

Roger Canals
Roger Canals works as Lecturer at the Department of Anthropology of the University of Barcelona. A specialist in Afro-American religions and visual anthropology, he holds a Ph.D. in anthropology from the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales in Paris and the University of Barcelona. In 2013 he was appointed as an honorary staff member at the Granada Centre of Visual Anthropology at the University of Manchester.
