The story of FAMILY occurred on the night of January 13, 2006, when John visited his grandfather during a weekend holiday. The next morning, he was found dead. His family decided to put their sorrow aside and donated John’s organs and body. This film redefines the value and meaning of life by focusing on mutual ennoblement and empowerment. Sorrow is transformed into a deep realization and inspiration to live a fuller life.

Tsai Tang-hsien

Tang-Hsien Tsai was born in Kaohsiung. Living with five cats and two dogs, Tsai loves cooking. She graduated from the Graduate Institute of Sound and Image Studies in Documentary, Taiwan National University of the Arts. Ms. Tsai, now an independent documentary film worker, regards the filming process as an opportunity to interact with those being filmed. This helps her to enjoy the rich landscape of life and understand the deeper meaning of life as well.
