Samichay, In Search of Happiness
The highest peaks of the mountains rise above the clouds. Sometimes they seem to merge with the sky. There is no god and neither there is a devil. We are in the heights of the Peruvian Andes, more than 5000 meters above sea level, where Celestino, a peasant hermit, undertakes a healing journey with his cow Samichay, from the loneliness and the height of the Andes to the chaos of urban and villages.

Lima 1978, Filmmaker and editor, his first short film, “Barrunto – 2004”, obtains the National Award at the Festival La Noche de los Cortos (Peru), was Official Selection at the LA Short Film Festival (USA), Antimatter Underground Film Festival (Canada), 17th Rencontres Cinémas d’Amérique Latine de Toulouse (France). Traveled to Madrid in 2004 to study a Master in Film Direction, and shoot «Zoomanidad», obtaining the CEU San Pablo First award, in addition to obtaining half a scholarship for the master’s degree. In 2010, the short film «The Second Awakening of Blindness» received the Award from the Busan International Short Film Festival (Korea); the Prize for Best Director of Casa De América (Spain); the Spanish Version of TVE Award (Spain); and the “Ciudad De Alcalá́» Award of the Xl Alcalá́ De Henares Film Festival “Alcine» (Spain), was selected in Berlinale (Germany), where it was the only Ibero-American short film in Official Competition in that year, having been selected from more than 6 thousand shorts from around the world.
